Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin described his profound personal emotional connection to the Cauvery Delta upon arriving in the region for extensive field inspections. Highlighting that entering his native delta homeland always brings heartfelt inspiration, Stalin stated that his tour focused on examining completed and ongoing desilting operations across river channels and irrigation canals. The inspections follow the historic early opening of the Mettur Dam in May for Kuruvai paddy cultivation.
Accompanied by senior irrigation engineers and district administrative officials, the Chief Minister reviewed waterway clearance projects in multiple agrarian centers. Stalin emphasized that releasing dam waters ahead of the customary June schedule required swift, high-quality desilting to ensure smooth water conveyance without wastage. He noted that clearing silt and aquatic weeds from feeder channels remains crucial for reaching farmers in downstream tail-end areas across the basin.
Stalin confirmed that his ground inspections will continue into the next day across neighboring districts. He reaffirmed that the Dravidian model administration remains wholeheartedly committed to safeguarding farmer interests, guaranteeing timely irrigation, and securing bumper harvest yields across the agricultural heartland of Tamil Nadu.
