The Peralam canal forms a critical link in the local irrigation network, channeling water from major distributaries to thousands of acres of agricultural holdings in nearby revenue villages.

The Chief Minister examined technical charts showing the progress of silt removal and weed clearance along the canal banks. Stalin instructed supervising engineers to maintain rigorous quality standards and ensure that all obstacles obstructing water velocity are eliminated before the full volume of Cauvery water arrives. He also spoke with local village cultivators who gathered at the site, inquiring about their preparedness for the Kuruvai paddy season.
