Our TN Govt has launched several initiatives like #MeendumManjappai, #GreenTNMission and first ever SPV called #TamilNaduGreenClimateCompany for natural conservation.
On #WorldEnvironmentDay, let's all remember that we have #OnlyOneEarth and strive to save it at all costs.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted his administration's pioneering environmental policies on World Environment Day, calling upon citizens to unite under the global theme that humanity possesses only one planet. Stalin listed major environmental missions executed by the state, including the Meendum Manjappai campaign against single-use plastics, the massive Green Tamil Nadu tree-planting mission, and the establishment of the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company as a dedicated special purpose vehicle.
The Chief Minister explained that the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company represents the country's first state-level dedicated entity set up to manage climate adaptation, wetland preservation, and carbon reduction initiatives. Through the Meendum Manjappai campaign, the government seeks to revive traditional cloth bags and eliminate polluting throwaway plastics from commercial markets and residential neighborhoods. Simultaneously, the Green Tamil Nadu Mission aims to increase total forest and tree cover across the state to thirty-three percent through community afforestation.
Stalin urged local governments, industries, and students to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles and conserve fragile coastal, wetland, and forest ecosystems. He affirmed that Tamil Nadu will continue leading India in climate action and sustainable development.
