Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally released the official emblem, mascot, and a 50-day promotional countdown video for the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Chennai. Addressing sports federations, international delegates, and athletes, Stalin declared that Chennai's name will be etched permanently in Indian and global sports history through the successful staging of the prestigious championship. He called upon all stakeholders, sports enthusiasts, and citizens to collaborate collectively to make the worldwide sporting event a resounding success.
The Chief Minister pointed out that Chennai is widely recognized as the chess capital of India, having produced the country's first Grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand, and dozens of subsequent international titleholders. Stalin emphasized that organizing the Olympiad within an exceptionally short preparation timeframe reflects the administrative competence and determination of the Tamil Nadu government. Elaborate arrangements have been established for world-class playing halls, luxury accommodations, transport logistics, and cultural showcases for participating delegations.
Stalin affirmed that the Olympiad will generate unprecedented enthusiasm for chess among school and college students throughout Tamil Nadu. He reiterated that the state government remains dedicated to promoting sports infrastructure and nurturing world-class athletic talent across all disciplines.
