Editorial context

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the 35th annual Tamil festival organized by the Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America via videoconference from Chennai. Expressing joy at connecting with diaspora Tamils across North America, Stalin remarked that although vast geographic distances separate emigrant families from their homeland, shared cultural heritage and devotion to the Tamil language unite Tamils across the world. He praised FeTNA for preserving Tamil identity, classical arts, and literary traditions over three and a half decades.

During his address, the Chief Minister highlighted Tamil Nadu's proactive initiatives to engage the global diaspora, including establishing the Non-Resident Tamils Welfare Board and organizing the annual World Tamil Diaspora Day. Stalin noted that emigrant Tamils have attained distinguished heights in international science, corporate management, medicine, and public policy, enhancing the global stature of their motherland. He urged expatriate professionals to contribute their technical knowledge, research expertise, and investment capital to developmental projects across Tamil Nadu.

Stalin affirmed that the state government will vigorously protect Tamil culture and expand classical language education abroad. He pledged continuous administrative backing for diaspora cultural festivals, student exchange programs, and international Tamil literary conventions.
