Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed the convocation ceremony of Presidency College in Chennai, presenting academic degrees and medals to graduating students. Speaking as an alumnus and senior student of the historic collegiate institution, Stalin conveyed warm personal congratulations to the graduates. He encouraged young scholars to pursue postgraduate research degrees with boundless curiosity, urging them to achieve scholarly excellence on national and international academic platforms.
Presidency College, established in 1840, has produced generations of prominent jurists, scientists, administrators, and political thinkers who shaped modern India. Stalin emphasized that higher education must equip students not merely for employment but for independent critical inquiry and social responsibility. He noted that the state government is investing heavily in upgrading college laboratory infrastructure, expanding postgraduate research grants, and building state-of-the-art digital library networks across public colleges.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Tamil Nadu's gross enrolment ratio in higher education leads the nation, reflecting decades of deliberate policy interventions ensuring college access for first-generation learners. Stalin urged graduating scholars to channel their acquired expertise toward solving societal challenges. He reiterated his administration's dedication to making public colleges centres of academic innovation, scientific rationalism, and egalitarian opportunity.
