Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a bronze statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and inaugurated the Perarignar Anna Memorial Arch in Tiruvannamalai, celebrating the district's special place in DMK history. Addressing an assembly of party functionaries, cultural figures, and citizens, Stalin recalled that Tiruvannamalai played a formative role in Karunanidhi's political journey and early ideological mobilizations. He urged party workers to rededicate themselves to the path of rationalism, federalism, and social justice charted by Anna and Karunanidhi.
The ceremonial arch and statue stand as lasting monuments honouring the two towering leaders who established the Dravidian movement as a decisive political force in Tamil Nadu. Stalin remarked that Anna and Karunanidhi built the DMK as an impregnable fortress defending the Tamil language, self-respect, and state rights against political overreach. By establishing democratic rule centered on social uplift, they transformed Tamil Nadu into a progressive welfare society recognized globally for human development.
Stalin called upon the younger generation of cadres to study the founding ideals and sacrifices of the Dravidian movement. He affirmed that the current government remains firmly rooted in their vision, delivering inclusive administration that protects state autonomy.
