Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute to former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj on his birth anniversary, celebrated across Tamil Nadu as Education Development Day. Stalin recalled that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi officially designated Kamaraj's birthday for this annual observance to ensure future generations recognize the historic reforms that opened school doors to millions. He emphasized that accessible learning remains an hard-won democratic right that transformed Tamil society into an educated, forward-looking community.
Kamaraj's administration initiated widespread primary school openings in rural villages, accompanied by pioneering mid-day meal programs that motivated underprivileged parents to send children to school. Karunanidhi subsequently expanded this vision by establishing colleges in backward districts, modernizing curricula, and establishing affirmative action pathways. Stalin pointed out that this continuous administrative tradition dismantled generational barriers, enabling underprivileged communities to enter engineering, medicine, and administrative services.
The Chief Minister urged citizens and students to uphold this heritage of learning and rational thought. Stalin stressed that education serves as the most potent instrument for social liberation and economic self-reliance. He reaffirmed his government's dedication to funding modern school infrastructure and protecting educational rights for every child.
