Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that Tamil Nadu will organize the prestigious TN Global Tiger Summit in Chennai in partnership with the Government of India. Marking International Tiger Day, Stalin stated that the international summit will serve as a fitting tribute to Tamil Nadu's pioneering leadership, scientific methodologies, and community-driven achievements in big cat conservation. The event will convene international wildlife experts, environmental scientists, forest administrators, and conservation advocates to deliberate on habitat management, anti-poaching measures, and human-wildlife coexistence strategies.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Tamil Nadu's protected tiger reserves—including Mudumalai, Anamalai, Sathyamangalam, Kalakkad Mundanthurai, and the newly established Srivilliputhur-Megamalai reserve—have recorded remarkable population recovery due to strict ecological preservation. Stalin praised the indigenous tribal communities and forest department personnel whose vigilant field protection ensures the safety of apex predators and their prey base. He pointed out that protecting tiger habitats safeguards vital watershed catchments that supply drinking water and irrigation across peninsular India. Stalin reaffirmed the state's resolve to strengthen ecological corridors, deploy drone surveillance, and lead international conservation dialogues to secure viable futures for endangered wildlife.
