Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered the presidential keynote address at the state conference on drug prevention held in Chennai, outlining an exhaustive government strategy to combat narcotics trafficking. Addressing senior administrative officers, district magistrates, and ranking police commanders, Stalin stressed that curbing substance abuse requires decisive operational rigor alongside widespread community participation. He issued direct instructions to law enforcement agencies to pursue severe criminal charges against narcotics distributors, uncover inter-state trafficking corridors, and confiscate properties acquired through illegal drug trade.
The Chief Minister highlighted that protecting children, college students, and youth from addiction is essential to safeguarding the social and economic future of Tamil Nadu. He called upon educational institutions, parent-teacher associations, local welfare bodies, and voluntary groups to join hands with the state machinery in promoting vigilance. Stalin stated that public health awareness campaigns must be conducted continuously across schools, colleges, and residential neighborhoods to steer youth toward academic and athletic pursuits. By reinforcing police surveillance, institutional rehabilitation facilities, and public resolve, the Chief Minister affirmed that his government will pursue every administrative avenue to build a healthy, drug-free Tamil Nadu.
