Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced the formal naming of the newly developed green park along the scenic Buckingham Canal bank between Kasturibai Nagar and Thiruvanmiyur MRTS railway stations as the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Park. Developed as a major civic beautification project under the flagship Singara Chennai 2.0 initiative, the sprawling urban park commemorates India's seventy-fifth anniversary of national independence by transforming neglected urban canal margins into vibrant public recreational corridors.

The park features paved walking tracks, native shady trees, modern LED lighting, open-air fitness gym equipment, dedicated children's play areas, and aesthetically landscaped seating spaces. Stalin noted that restoring historic waterways and reclaiming urban waterfronts enhances Chennai's environmental quality while offering working-class residents and local commuters accessible green open spaces for physical recreation and evening relaxation.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the Singara Chennai 2.0 initiative continues to revamp the metropolitan landscape through systematic solid waste clearing, canal bank stabilization, and eco-friendly recreational developments. He stated that sustainable ecological interventions of this nature demonstrate his administration's balanced commitment to modernizing urban infrastructure while protecting fragile waterways and enhancing community health throughout Chennai.
