Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed young women enrolled in higher education institutions under the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme, widely known as the Puthumai Penn scheme. Offering his felicitations, Stalin urged beneficiary students to study the specialized guidance booklet provided alongside their monthly direct cash transfer of one thousand rupees, emphasizing that structured financial planning and parental advice will help them achieve academic excellence in their chosen fields of study.
The flagship welfare initiative directly addresses long-standing economic hurdles that historically compelled young women from state-run government schools to discontinue their studies after completing secondary education. By depositing regular financial assistance directly into the personal bank accounts of enrolled college students, the state government removes fiscal burdens on working-class families and steadily expands female enrollment across undergraduate degree, professional engineering, medicine, and diploma courses.
Stalin affirmed that the social emancipation of women forms the core objective of the Dravidian model of governance. He expressed confidence that these students will graduate as skilled professionals, driving economic transformation and self-reliance while serving as inspiring community leaders throughout Tamil Nadu.
