Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered the keynote address at the official launch of the SIRPI scheme organized by the Greater Chennai Police at Nehru Indoor Stadium. Addressing educational administrators, senior police commissioners, teachers, and participating students, Stalin outlined a modern vision of community-oriented policing centered on guiding vulnerable adolescents toward constructive citizenship.

The Chief Minister detailed that the SIRPI project, an acronym for Students In Responsible Police Initiatives, establishes structured mentorship units across one hundred government schools in Chennai. Trained police personnel will guide students in physical exercise, legal awareness, cyber safety, disaster management, and substance abuse resistance. Stalin stressed that adolescence is a formative phase where socioeconomic vulnerabilities can lead youth astray without timely guidance, noting that proactive intervention effectively prevents juvenile delinquency.

Stalin affirmed that modern law enforcement must prioritize building crime-free social environments through empathy rather than relying solely on punitive detention. He commended the police department for executing student-focused social reform, expressing firm confidence that SIRPI will transform thousands of underprivileged school students into disciplined, ethical, responsible, and compassionate future citizens across the state.
