Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated newly constructed modern residential tenements for rehabilitated Sri Lankan Tamil families in Melmonavoor near Vellore. Describing Sri Lankan Tamils as beloved kin united by an unbreakable umbilical bond, Stalin stated that providing dignified, permanent, and secure housing to displaced families represents an emotional and moral commitment of the Dravidian movement.

The new housing complex features disaster-resilient multi-storey homes equipped with individual tap water connections, modern sanitation facilities, tarred access roads, electricity networks, and green open parks. Stalin recalled that soon after assuming office, he announced a comprehensive welfare package exceeding three hundred crore rupees to rebuild refugee rehabilitation camps into dignified residential villages. The administration has systematically improved infrastructure, educational scholarships, and self-help group livelihood subsidies across all camps in the state.

Stalin affirmed that his government treats the welfare of Sri Lankan Tamils as an integral part of Tamil Nadu's social responsibility. He reiterated that his administration will persistently advocate for their fundamental citizenship rights and economic stability, ensuring every family lives with enduring honor, comprehensive social security, absolute safety, and genuine peace.
