Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the innovative SIRPI scheme, an acronym for Students In Responsible Police Initiatives, designed to mentor school students and foster civic discipline. Speaking at the launch event organized by the Greater Chennai Police, Stalin stated that the visionary program aims to shape young minds during crucial formative years, transitioning policing from reactive crime control to proactive social reform.

Under the initiative, police nodal officers will mentor thousands of students from government schools, engaging them in physical fitness, community service, road safety awareness, and anti-substance abuse education. Stalin highlighted that adolescent youths often fall prey to criminal exploitation, peer pressure, or domestic instability due to inadequate guidance. By establishing empathetic mentorship between law enforcement and vulnerable youth, the SIRPI scheme prevents juvenile delinquency and builds resilient, law-abiding future citizens.

The Chief Minister commended the police department for undertaking progressive preventive policing that strengthens community trust. Stalin affirmed that creating a crime-free society requires sculpting compassionate, socially responsible generations.
