I take strong exception to the statement made by Hon. Union Home Minister @AmitShah & urge him to take concrete steps for the development of all languages in the 8th Schedule to the Constitution.
It's high time to make all our languages as Official Languages, on par with Hindi. https://t.co/WRTbDNFP7d

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took strong exception to statements made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Hindi Diwas, calling upon the Union government to treat all regional languages with equal constitutional dignity. Stalin demanded concrete policy steps and necessary constitutional amendments to declare all twenty-two languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution as Official Languages of the Union, on par with Hindi.
The Chief Minister emphasized that India's unity is founded on its rich multilingual diversity and federal coexistence, rather than artificial linguistic uniformity. Stalin criticized central policies that spend hundreds of crores of public funds to promote Hindi while neglecting classical and ancient languages such as Tamil. He asserted that denying official status to non-Hindi languages relegates millions of non-Hindi speaking citizens to the status of second-class citizens within their own nation.
Stalin affirmed that the DMK will persistently champion language equality at every national forum, honoring the legacy of the historic anti-Hindi imposition struggles. He urged the Union government to discard linguistic chauvinism and embrace genuine federalism by granting equal administrative status to all Indian languages.
