Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin delivered an inspiring inaugural address while rolling out the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme on the birth anniversary of Perarignar Anna, characterizing the initiative as an epochal breakthrough in social welfare. Speaking at the launch event in Madurai, Stalin stated that providing nutritious morning meals to government school students represents the highest moral duty of democratic governance.
The scheme covers over one lakh primary school children across 1,545 government schools in municipal corporations, municipalities, and remote rural panchayats during its initial phase. Stalin pointed out that proper morning nutrition prevents childhood malnutrition, combats student anemia, enhances memory retention, and drastically reduces school dropout rates among marginalized children. The government has established decentralized hygienic kitchens and real-time monitoring mechanisms to ensure superior food quality and cleanliness.
Stalin emphasized that the Dravidian Model governance views education as an inalienable fundamental right that must be unburdened by poverty. He affirmed that this visionary morning meal program will serve as a national model for school education, inspiring similar child-centric welfare reforms, nutritional security policies, and school health initiatives across India.
