Delegations representing the Narikuravar and Kuruvikkaran indigenous communities called on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Secretariat in Chennai, expressing profound gratitude for the state government's relentless advocacy in securing their inclusion in the Scheduled Tribes list. Community leaders commended Stalin for persistently pursuing their long-pending constitutional rights with the Union government.

Stalin highlighted that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had initiated formal legislative efforts decades ago to confer Scheduled Tribe status upon the Narikuravar people. Continuing that ideological commitment, Stalin personally raised the matter during meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers, while DMK parliamentarians consistently raised the issue in both houses of Parliament. The Union Cabinet subsequently approved the historic classification, ending decades of administrative neglect.

The Chief Minister assured the delegates that the state government will vigorously monitor the implementation of reservation quotas, educational scholarships, and welfare entitlements for nomadic communities. Stalin reaffirmed that social justice is truly fulfilled only when the most historically marginalized, neglected sections attain guaranteed equal educational opportunities, social dignity, permanent housing, and sustainable economic self-reliance across the state.
