Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for Periyar Ulagam, an international research complex and rationalist training academy established by Dravidar Kazhagam at Siruganur in Tiruchirappalli district. Addressing a massive gathering of rationalist scholars, social activists, and political leaders, Stalin praised Dravidar Kazhagam President K. Veeramani for conceptualizing this monumental educational project dedicated to humanist inquiry.

The Chief Minister detailed that Periyar Ulagam will feature an advanced research library, multimedia archives preserving historical documents of the Self-Respect Movement, conference halls, and a towering statue of Thanthai Periyar. The institute will serve as a global hub for researchers, scholars, and youth seeking to analyze anti-caste struggles, gender emancipation, and progressive social movements. Stalin observed that memorializing Periyar through vibrant living institutions is the finest tribute to his historic contribution.

Stalin asserted that the principles of self-respect and rationalist questioning are the greatest gifts bestowed upon Tamil society. He reiterated that his administration will extend all necessary support to educational endeavors that strengthen social equality, foster scientific temper, promote rational thought, and inspire upcoming generations to eradicate caste prejudice and social injustice.
