Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing floral tributes to revolutionary social reformer Thanthai Periyar E.V. Ramasamy on his 144th birth anniversary, urging citizens to walk steadfastly along the egalitarian path charted by the Self-Respect Movement. Stalin recalled how Periyar exposed deeply entrenched social falsehoods, superstitions, and birth-based hierarchies that historically condemned the vast majority of people to servitude and indignity.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Periyar's relentless social activism eradicated discriminatory untouchability, secured equal property rights for women, and ignited an intellectual renaissance across Tamil society. Because of Periyar's tireless sacrifices, millions of oppressed citizens gained the courage to claim their rightful self-respect and assert their constitutional entitlement to education and public employment. Stalin stated that Periyar transformed Tamil Nadu into a pioneering bastion of social justice.

Stalin affirmed that defending Tamil identity and dignity requires relentless vigilance against regressive orthodoxies attempting to reintroduce caste dominance. He resolved that his government will fiercely protect social justice, advance rationalist education, and ensure that every individual in Tamil Nadu flourishes with unshakeable self-respect, personal freedom, social dignity, and equal opportunity.
