Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin administered the Social Justice Day pledge to state ministers, elected legislators, and senior secretariat officials in Chennai, commemorating the 144th birth anniversary of revolutionary social reformer Thanthai Periyar E.V. Ramasamy. Government employees across all state departments, district collectorates, and local administrative bodies concurrently took the solemn oath to uphold equality and social fraternity.

Stalin recalled that his administration officially designated Periyar's birth anniversary on September 17 as Social Justice Day to institutionalize the reformer's lifelong struggle against caste-based discrimination and gender subjugation. The pledge commits public servants to eliminate social disparities, defend constitutional reservations, and treat all citizens with equal respect regardless of caste, creed, or gender. Stalin highlighted that administrative machinery must operate with deep social consciousness and unwavering public empathy.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Tamil Nadu's social advancement stems directly from Periyar's rationalist movement, which dismantled entrenched social privileges and opened educational avenues for marginalized communities.
