Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tributes to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, reiterating a solemn commitment to defending communal harmony, secularism, and fraternity across India. Stalin highlighted Gandhi's monumental struggle to build an inclusive society transcending religious, caste, and regional divides, affirming that India belongs to all its citizens without distinction.
The Chief Minister asserted that the sacred soil of India has no place for reactionary forces seeking to foment communal hatred, sectarian violence, and religious bigotry. Recalling Gandhi's historic visit to Madurai in 1921, where he chose to discard conventional attire and adopt the humble loincloth of Tamil peasants, Stalin underscored the deep emotional and ideological bond Gandhi shared with the Tamil people. He pointed out that true patriotism lies in nurturing love, peace, and mutual respect among communities.
Stalin urged citizens to take a resolute pledge on Gandhi Jayanti to preserve constitutional secularism and resist ideological polarization. He affirmed that Tamil Nadu will continually serve as a sanctuary of peace, social justice, and inclusive brotherhood for all.
