As a result of recent efforts undertaken by our govt & various sports associations, TN has sent its largest ever contingent(380) to #NationalGames2022.
TN is placed No.4 among Indian states by winning 12 🥇. I wish them to win more medals, as I await to receive our sport stars!
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin congratulated the state's athletes on their stellar performance at the 36th National Games held in Gujarat, where Tamil Nadu secured the fourth rank nationally by clinching twelve gold medals. Stalin highlighted that due to proactive policy incentives and sports infrastructure upgrades undertaken by the state government and sports associations, Tamil Nadu fielded its largest-ever contingent of 380 sportspersons at the premier multi-sport championship.
The Chief Minister commended athletes across athletics, fencing, swimming, weightlifting, and traditional games for bringing national glory to the state through extraordinary stamina and sportsmanship. He noted that the government has overhauled sports funding, providing world-class training facilities, high-performance coaching kits, dietary support, and cash rewards for podium finishers. The recent successful hosting of the 44th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Mamallapuram demonstrated the administration's capacity to elevate Tamil Nadu into a preeminent sports hub.
Stalin conveyed his warmest wishes to the contingent for upcoming events and expressed eagerness to felicitate the returning sports stars in Chennai. He reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will continue investing in youth athleticism and grassroots stadiums statewide.
