Hon. @PMOIndia, It extremely saddens me that a Tamil fisherman was shot by Indian Navy and creates a sense of despair & insecurity in the minds of our fisherfolk.
Please direct the Indian Security Agencies to exercise extreme caution & restraint while dealing with our fishermen. https://t.co/WoCd7vsC9Y

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin addressed an urgent communication to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, voicing profound grief and anguish over an incident where a Tamil fisherman from Mayiladuthurai district sustained serious bullet injuries after being fired upon by the Indian Navy in the Palk Bay. Stalin emphasized that the unprovoked firing by national security forces on domestic citizens engaged in traditional livelihood fishing had triggered immense distress, insecurity, and fear among coastal communities.
The Chief Minister urged the Union Government to issue immediate and strict operational directives to Indian naval and coast guard personnel to exercise extreme caution and operational restraint when patrolling waters frequented by Indian fishing vessels. Stalin noted that coastal fishermen already brave volatile maritime conditions, hostile weather, and frequent harassment from neighboring foreign navies in their daily quest to secure a livelihood.
Stalin announced immediate financial and medical assistance from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund for the injured fisherman and his family. He stressed that domestic defense forces must prioritize the safety and constitutional rights of citizens, urging a comprehensive high-level inquiry to prevent such unfortunate occurrences in the future.
