Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid heartfelt tributes to the brave border struggle martyrs on November 1, observing Border Struggle Martyrs Day across the state. Stalin recalled the monumental sacrifices of the valiant activists, community leaders, and border guards who waged resolute protests during the linguistic reorganization of Indian states in the 1950s to safeguard and integrate historical Tamil-speaking regions into Tamil Nadu.
Reflecting on the historical agitations along the northern and southern frontiers, including struggles in Tiruttani and Kanyakumari, Stalin saluted those who endured police brutality, lengthy imprisonments, and martyrdom to preserve the integrity of Tamil territory. He emphasized that the Dravidian movement has always held these border defenders in highest esteem, institutionalizing state pensions, welfare benefits, and memorial honors for surviving freedom fighters and their families.
Stalin asserted that remembering border martyrs strengthens contemporary resolves to protect Tamil identity, cultural rights, and federal self-respect. His administration remains steadfast in commemorating regional historical struggles, ensuring that future generations recognize the collective sacrifices that shaped the territorial boundaries and political destiny of modern Tamil Nadu. Their dedication serves as a permanent beacon guiding the state's cultural identity and political progress.
