Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over a high-level review meeting at the state secretariat to evaluate interdepartmental preparedness for the incoming Northeast Monsoon season. The meeting gathered senior ministers, district collectors, municipal commissioners, and disaster management authorities to ensure operational readiness, preemptive stormwater drainage clearing, and rapid rescue protocols across vulnerable low-lying regions statewide.
Stalin instructed district administrations to maintain round-the-clock control rooms, deploy heavy-duty water evacuation pumps, and station emergency relief personnel in flood-prone neighborhoods. He emphasized that recent desilting drives and stormwater canal augmentations in urban centers, especially Chennai and surrounding districts, must function seamlessly to prevent inundation during intense spells of precipitation. Departmental heads were directed to coordinate closely with the State Disaster Response Force and public health authorities to stock essential medicines and emergency provisions.
The Chief Minister stressed that public safety remains paramount, urging officials to execute relief deployments without delay and keep temporary relief camps fully equipped with clean drinking water and sanitary amenities. By maintaining proactive vigil and swift ground response, Stalin assured citizens that state machinery is thoroughly prepared to tackle monsoon adversities.
