I'm happy to announce that the GoTN has notified 'Cauvery South Wildlife Sanctuary' as the 17th Wildlife Sanctuary in TN. This significant step along with the TN Green Climate Company's missions will go a long way in conserving the rich biodiversity of our State. https://t.co/oaMiGLw6bh

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the state government has officially notified the Cauvery South Wildlife Sanctuary, designating it as Tamil Nadu's seventeenth wildlife sanctuary. Spanning critical reserve forest tracts across Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts, the notification marks a major stride in expanding the state's protected forest network and securing contiguous elephant migration corridors along the Cauvery river basin.
Stalin observed that establishing this protected sanctuary will work in tandem with the state's specialized climate initiatives, specifically the missions driven by the Tamil Nadu Green Climate Company. Conserving this vital forested landscape protects vulnerable wildlife populations, prevents habitat fragmentation, and shields indigenous flora and fauna from encroachments. The reserve connects adjoining forest reserves in neighboring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, establishing an essential ecological bridge for large mammals.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed that environmental stewardship and biodiversity preservation remain essential pillars of Tamil Nadu's long-term developmental blueprint. His administration continues to prioritize forest restoration, climate adaptation programs, and sustainable habitat management to safeguard natural heritage for upcoming generations while engaging local tribal communities in participatory conservation efforts. Tamil Nadu continues setting commendable national benchmarks in ecological preservation and climate resilience.
