Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin underscored his administration's deep commitment to forest protection, wildlife conservation, and biodiversity preservation, linking modern climate resilience with ancient Tamil culture's ethical philosophy of ecological harmony. Invoking classical Sangam literature that classified Tamil geography into five distinct natural landscapes, Stalin stressed that preserving delicate ecological balances and protecting indigenous flora and fauna is a civilizational duty owed to future generations.
The Chief Minister highlighted several pioneering environmental milestones instituted under the Dravidian Model, notably the establishment of the Tamil Nadu Climate Change Mission, the creation of India's first Slender Loris and Dugong conservation reserves, and extensive afforestation programs. By adopting global scientific best practices, integrating coastal restoration, and expanding protected wetland networks under the Ramsar convention, the state is actively fortifying its terrain against intensifying climate change vulnerabilities.
Stalin called upon environmentalists, local grassroots communities, and forest dwellers to actively participate in multifaceted conservation endeavors. By combining strict environmental protections with empowered community stewardship, Tamil Nadu demonstrates proactive environmental leadership, ensuring sustainable natural ecosystems thrive harmoniously alongside vibrant socioeconomic development across all districts of the state.
