Editorial context

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated Justice Party Foundation Day, honoring the historic formation of the South Indian Liberal Federation on November 20, 1916. Recognizing the momentous movement founded by pioneering stalwarts Sir P. Theagaraya Chetty, Dr. T.M. Nair, and Dr. C. Natesa Mudaliar, Stalin highlighted that the birth of the Justice Party marked the ideological dawn of modern affirmative action, non-Brahmin awakening, and social democracy across South India.

Stalin noted that the historic legislative interventions of the Justice Party—most notably the landmark communal government order of 1921 establishing communal reservations, the enfranchisement of women, the abolition of the Devadasi system, and the introduction of free midday meals in schools—fundamentally dismantled entrenched feudal monopolies over education and governance. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam proudly traces its political ancestry and progressive governance principles directly to this pioneering heritage of institutional reform.

Reaffirming commitment to the foundational ideals of the movement, Stalin declared that the Dravidian Model governance continues the unfinished revolution of the Justice Party. By championing social justice, federal autonomy, and linguistic dignity, Tamil Nadu preserves the immortal legacy of its pioneering egalitarian visionaries.
