Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched the innovative Vanavil Mandram STEM initiative across state-run institutions, aiming to cultivate scientific curiosity, experimental learning, and rational thinking among government school students. Emphasizing that asking why, for what, and how constitutes the bedrock of all human civilization, Stalin highlighted the program's purpose in demystifying science and mathematics through hands-on practical experiments for young learners.
Under the scheme, trained resource persons and mobile science laboratories visit government schools, conducting interactive experiments and guiding students in robotics, astronomy, and environmental sciences. Stalin observed that cultivating a rational, questioning mindset during formative school years frees children from superstition and dogma, laying strong foundations for future research innovators and technological leaders. The initiative specifically targets rural and underprivileged pupils who historically lacked modern laboratory access.
Stalin reiterated that public education must be holistic, creative, and joyful rather than confined to rote memorization. By integrating progressive pedagogy with cutting-edge experimental tools and continuous teacher support, the Tamil Nadu government continues to revolutionize state-run schooling, ensuring government school students compete confidently on national and international scientific platforms in future.
