Marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated specialized software skill training and distributed advanced laptops to visually impaired and differently abled candidates under the flagship Naan Mudhalvan scheme. Simultaneously fulfilling a vital livelihood demand, the Chief Minister announced a substantial hike in the monthly maintenance allowance for persons with disabilities, raising the financial assistance to 1,500 rupees across the state.
Addressing beneficiaries in Chennai, Stalin affirmed that true inclusivity lies in empowering vulnerable citizens with high-value technical skills that enable financial self-reliance and career independence. The Naan Mudhalvan initiative collaborates with leading technology companies and assistive software developers to deliver customized curriculum modules, preparing students for competitive roles in information technology, data analysis, and digital banking sectors.
Stalin noted that the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons operates directly under the Chief Minister's portfolio, reflecting his personal oversight and deep commitment to barrier-free governance. By combining educational infrastructure, technological accessibility, and enhanced social security allowances, Tamil Nadu continues to pioneer institutional safeguards that protect dignity and equal rights for all persons with disabilities.
