Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over a community wedding ceremony in Chennai, solemnizing marriages for thirty couples organized under the auspices of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. The initiative forms part of the state government's welfare program conducting sponsored weddings across renowned temples, providing underprivileged youth with dignified nuptials, ceremonial gold, clothing, and essential household appliances without imposing financial burdens on their families.
In his presidential address, Stalin blessed the newly married couples and commended temple administrative authorities for revitalizing community-oriented welfare services. Under the Dravidian Model governance, temples across Tamil Nadu have expanded their societal mission beyond ritual observances, actively running free dining halls, educational institutions, dispensaries, and wedding assistances for economically marginalized sections. Each couple received four grams of gold for the mangalsutra alongside forty-eight household utility items funded through temple donations.
Stalin reiterated that his administration ensures temple wealth directly benefits the broader public with utmost administrative transparency. By removing financial distress associated with marriage ceremonies for low-income families, the government reaffirms its compassionate governance model, blending cultural traditions with progressive social welfare interventions statewide.
