Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin personally visited coastal neighborhoods along the East Coast Road (ECR) and Kasimedu fishing harbor in Chennai to inspect ground damages caused by Cyclone Mandous and directly distribute comprehensive relief packages to affected families. Stalin walked through inundated streets, interacted directly with traditional fishermen, coastal vendors, and hut dwellers, and distributed essential food provisions, tarpaulins, dry rations, and financial aid to those whose livelihoods were disrupted by severe sea surges.
The Chief Minister placed on record his deep appreciation for cabinet ministers who camped overnight in sensitive coastal districts, coordinating emergency operations, food distribution, and evacuation logistics alongside district collectors. This hands-on, frontline leadership model ensured that over five thousand vulnerable citizens were safely relocated to designated relief camps with hot cooked meals, medical attention, and clean sanitation before the cyclonic storm made landfall.
Stalin affirmed that his government's primary duty during any natural disaster is guaranteeing absolute protection for vulnerable coastal communities. He instructed fisheries department officials to assess boat damages expeditiously for early compensation disbursements, ensuring affected fishing families resume their maritime livelihoods swiftly and securely.
