Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended warm greetings to the farming community on National Farmers Day, commending farmers as the life-sustaining providers of society. Highlighting his administration's historic achievements in the agrarian sector, Stalin emphasized that within a remarkably short span of governance, the DMK government successfully sanctioned and energized 1.50 lakh new free agricultural electricity connections across the state.
The Chief Minister pointed out that introducing a separate, comprehensive Agriculture Budget was a landmark policy reform aimed at prioritizing farmers' welfare and rural prosperity. Through initiatives such as the Kalaignar All Village Integrated Agricultural Development Programme, desilting of major irrigation canals before the Kuruvai season, and timely distribution of certified seed and fertilizer inputs, the government has helped farmers achieve record paddy and foodgrain harvests statewide.
Stalin reaffirmed his government's resolve to elevate agricultural productivity by adopting modern water management techniques, micro-irrigation, climate-resilient farming, and advanced global agrarian technologies. He assured Tamil Nadu's farmers of continuous administrative backing, remunerative procurement prices, and expanded rural infrastructure, reiterating that safeguarding agrarian welfare forms the bedrock of sustainable economic growth and food security in the state.
