Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended senior author and political commentator A. Gopanna for his biographical work on India's first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Speaking at the book launch event in Chennai, Stalin stressed that Gopanna's documented biography serves as a timely and indispensable intervention at a critical moment when communal fundamentalists are actively fabricating false histories and spreading organized slander to malign Nehru's towering legacy.
Stalin pointed out that right-wing fundamentalists target Nehru because he laid the institutional bedrock of a modern, secular, and scientifically oriented India. By establishing premier scientific research bodies, modern public universities, autonomous public sector enterprises, and robust parliamentary conventions, Nehru ensured India resisted religious sectarianism. Slandering his memory is an orchestrated ploy by reactionary elements to dismantle the secular ethos and inclusive constitutional structure of the Indian republic.
The Chief Minister emphasized that popularizing accurate historical accounts among younger readers is the most effective defense against political misinformation. He urged educators and civil society organizations to disseminate Nehru's progressive ideals, affirming that Tamil Nadu will consistently champion rationalist thought, scientific inquiry, and historical truth against retrograde propaganda.
