Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin extended warm birthday greetings to veteran communist stalwart and freedom fighter Comrade R. Nallakannu on reaching his 98th birthday. Stalin paid glowing tribute to Nallakannu's extraordinary eight decades of public service, highlighting his unyielding resistance against British colonial rule and his tireless ongoing struggle to safeguard Indian democracy from sectarian and communal forces.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Nallakannu personifies selfless sacrifice, moral integrity, and grassroots activism. In recognition of his legendary contributions to the state's working class and peasant movements, the DMK government conferred upon him the inaugural Thagaisal Thamizhar award, which Nallakannu famously re-donated immediately to public welfare funds. Stalin noted that Nallakannu's simplicity, humility, and steadfast commitment to working-class rights remain an unmatched moral guide for all political leaders.

Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian movement and leftist organizations share an enduring solidarity in protecting constitutional secularism, federalism, and social justice.
