Reflecting on Tamil Nadu's rich tradition of mutual respect among political stalwarts, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin recalled how former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi paid extraordinary homage to elder statesman Rajaji. Karunanidhi had personally visited Rajaji's residence to present the prestigious copper plaque conferred by the Union Government for freedom fighters, and subsequently constructed a stately memorial hall at Guindy in Chennai to honor his enduring legacy.

Stalin observed that while Karunanidhi and Rajaji held sharply divergent ideological convictions on social reform, language policy, and economic doctrine, they maintained an enduring mutual affection and civil camaraderie.
