At a time when blatant attempts are made to communalise & distort history, it's befitting that such an event is being held in TN - the land of resistance & rationality. https://t.co/IDn4KgDAoE

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the 81st Session of the Indian History Congress at the historic Madras Christian College campus in Tambaram, addressing eminent historians, researchers, and academicians gathered from across India. Stalin described hosting the prestigious congress in Tamil Nadu as profoundly meaningful, emphasizing that the state has perpetually stood as a bastion of rationality, scientific inquiry, and democratic resistance against reactionary tendencies.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister warned against aggressive, coordinated attempts by sectarian forces to communalize historical scholarship, manufacture mythological narratives, and rewrite school textbooks. He emphasized that genuine history must be grounded in objective archaeological findings, empirical documents, and verifiable scientific analysis rather than religious dogma or chauvinistic myth-making. He cited Tamil Nadu's ongoing archaeological excavations at Keeladi, Sivagalai, and Korkai as evidence of an ancient, secular urban civilization.
Stalin called upon professional historians to fearlessly defend historical truth, asserting that an accurate understanding of the past is essential for building an inclusive and harmonious future. He assured the scholarly community that Tamil Nadu will always provide a welcoming haven for unfettered academic research and progressive intellectual freedom.
