Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin disbursed fifty crore rupees to support consecration and renovation works across 2,500 ancient and village temples through the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. Addressing temple trustees and administrators during the ceremony in Chennai, Stalin reaffirmed that his government treats heritage preservation as an administrative priority, ensuring that historic spiritual sites receive meticulous structural restoration and proper ritual upkeep.
The financial assistance specifically targets ancient shrines, rural village temples, and places of worship in Adi Dravidar habitations that lack substantial independent revenue. Under the Dravidian Model governance, the department has recovered thousands of acres of encroached temple lands, renovated ancient temple tanks, restored traditional wooden temple cars, and initiated consecration rituals for centuries-old historic landmarks across Tamil Nadu.
Stalin highlighted that true secular administration respects religious heritage while maintaining administrative transparency, fair management, and social inclusion. By providing systematic funding for neglected shrines alongside major temples, the government ensures the preservation of Tamil architectural genius and sacred heritage. He assured administrators that state support for heritage conservation will continue expanding to protect regional traditions for future generations.
