Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the 46th Chennai Book Fair organized by the Booksellers and Publishers Association of South India at the YMCA grounds in Nandanam, Chennai. Stalin celebrated the annual book fair as Tamil Nadu's grandest intellectual gathering, bringing together hundreds of publishers, thousands of authors, and lakhs of avid book readers under a single roof to celebrate reading and intellectual inquiry.
During the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister presented the prestigious Muthamizharignar Kalaignar Porkizhi Awards to distinguished writers across various literary genres, conferring cash awards of one lakh rupees and citations upon each recipient. Stalin noted that his administration is executing massive educational and intellectual programs—establishing district book fairs across all thirty-eight districts, founding modern public libraries, and providing substantial procurement subsidies to regional publishers. These initiatives have revitalized reading culture throughout the state.
The Chief Minister asserted that the flame of rational knowledge must spread to every corner of Tamil society. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance views literature and reading as essential tools for social liberation, encouraging parents and teachers to nurture a passionate reading habit among young students.
