Concluding his centenary tribute to legendary industrialist and philanthropist Arutchelvar Dr. N. Mahalingam, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin declared that honoring his legacy requires practicing the humanism and religious harmony he championed throughout his life. Stalin observed that Mahalingam drew profound moral inspiration from 19th-century spiritual reformer Ramalinga Adigal, popularly known as Vallalar, and Mahatma Gandhi, translating their ethical philosophies into concrete social and educational philanthropy across western Tamil Nadu.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Mahalingam demonstrated how industrial capitalism can coexist with deep social responsibility and spiritual secularism. Rather than using wealth solely for personal accumulation, Mahalingam channeled resources into establishing premier engineering colleges, polytechnics, schools, and cultural academies that empowered hundreds of thousands of students from agrarian backgrounds in the Kongu region. His life proved that compassionate service elevates business into lasting societal transformation.
Stalin affirmed that celebrating visionary pioneers who lived with compassion, integrity, and interfaith brotherhood reinforces Tamil society's moral fabric. He stated that his administration will preserve the memory of Mahalingam by supporting ethical entrepreneurship and cultural tolerance, ensuring that the philanthropist's enduring legacy of service continues guiding upcoming generations throughout Tamil Nadu.
