Editorial context

In an unprecedented and historic legislative intervention, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin moved a special resolution on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly regarding the Governor's opening address, broadcast live to the public. Stalin acted decisively after Governor R.N. Ravi deviated from the government-prepared and cabinet-approved speech, omitting references to social justice, secularism, the Dravidian Model, and iconic leaders including Periyar, Anna, and Kalaignar.

Stalin's resolution resolved that only the printed and translated version of the Governor's address, formally approved by the council of ministers, would be entered into the official assembly records, disallowing the unapproved deviations spoken by the Governor. The resolution was adopted unanimously by the house as the Governor exited the assembly chamber. Stalin explained that the assembly had to act immediately to preserve parliamentary conventions, cabinet authority, and constitutional propriety.

The Chief Minister asserted that the Governor's constitutional role requires reading the speech prepared by the elected state government without personal modifications or political censorship. Stalin affirmed that Tamil Nadu's elected legislature will steadfastly defend constitutional morality and state legislative dignity against all forms of gubernatorial overreach.

This is an initiative of unofficial DMK and Dravidian Ideology supporter, a fan of Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna and Kalaignar — not affiliated with any official DMK party or persons.
