Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited his home constituency of Kolathur in Chennai to personally distribute government Pongal gift hampers and celebratory relief assistance to local residents and families. Joining constituent workers, women, and elders to celebrate the upcoming harvest festival, Stalin expressed profound happiness at celebrating the historic festival of Thanksgiving directly with the citizens who elected him to the state assembly.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government is distributing comprehensive Pongal gift packages containing raw rice, sugar, whole sugarcane, and a cash assistance of one thousand rupees to over two crore rice ration cardholders statewide. He noted that the initiative ensures that every family in Tamil Nadu, regardless of their economic circumstances, can celebrate the traditional harvest festival with happiness, self-respect, and domestic abundance.

Stalin observed that Pongal is an egalitarian cultural festival devoid of regressive religious rituals, celebrating social equality, agrarian labor, and nature.
