Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin participated in the official celebrations of Non-Resident Tamils Day in Chennai, welcoming hundreds of diaspora delegates representing Tamil cultural associations, businesses, and academic institutions worldwide. The convention brought together diaspora delegates from North America, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Stalin observed that although oceans and continents physically separate emigrant Tamils from their ancestral homeland, their shared mother tongue and cultural values unite them as one global family.
The Chief Minister commended the diaspora for excelling across global industries, technology corporations, and international academia, noting that their professional accomplishments bring immense honor to Tamil society. He affirmed that the state government established the Commissionerate of Non-Resident Tamils Welfare to protect overseas workers, provide legal aid in Gulf countries, and offer emergency evacuation assistance during international crises.
Stalin urged the diaspora to maintain vibrant linguistic and cultural relationships with Tamil Nadu by participating in educational exchange initiatives and promoting classical literature abroad. He stated that the government will continually expand institutional channels for diaspora investments, inviting overseas Tamils to contribute their capital, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial networks to accelerate sustainable industrial growth across their home state.
