Concluding the proceedings of the Chennai International Book Fair 2023, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed immense pride and confidence that Tamil Nadu's institutional efforts to showcase Tamil literature to the global knowledge society will achieve historic success. Stalin highlighted that the state government organized the international literary fair to connect local authors, translators, and publishers directly with global literary institutions and international publishing houses.
The Chief Minister noted that Tamil, as one of the world's oldest living classical languages, possesses an extraordinary corpus of ancient Sangam poetry, philosophical treatises, and modern creative prose. However, lack of structured institutional support historically limited its presence in international libraries and global translations. By facilitating translation rights agreements, intellectual property exchanges, and government subsidies, the state administration is systematically dismantling linguistic isolation and placing Tamil masterpieces on the world literary stage.
Stalin affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance views language promotion not as an isolated cultural luxury, but as an indispensable pillar of international diplomacy and knowledge dissemination. He congratulated organizers, delegating nations, and regional authors for making the fair a landmark cultural achievement.
