Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited the construction site of the Kalaignar Memorial Multi-Super-Speciality Hospital located at the King Institute campus in Guindy, Chennai, to review the progress of civil works. The landmark medical project, conceived and announced by Stalin in 2021 on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, is being established at an estimated budget of 230 crore rupees to provide state-of-the-art tertiary medical care to underprivileged citizens.
Designed as an eco-friendly green building with advanced environmental standards, the hospital will accommodate 1,000 in-patient beds across specialized departments including cardiology, neurology, oncology, and robotic surgery. Stalin inspected the structural execution of modern clinical wards, operation theaters, and diagnostic facilities, directing health and public works department engineers to maintain world-class construction quality and adhere strictly to targeted completion deadlines.
The Chief Minister emphasized that providing free, high-grade super-speciality treatment to marginalized families forms the core objective of Tamil Nadu's public health policy. He affirmed that this medical institution will ease the load on existing government hospitals and reinforce the state's status as the premier healthcare capital of the nation.
