Chief Minister M.K. Stalin expressed immense pride as Tamil Nadu's official cultural tableau rolled majestically down Kartavya Path during the 74th Republic Day parade in New Delhi, showcasing statues of iconic women who shaped Tamil history and social emancipation. Stalin highlighted that the tableau honored legendary figures including ancient poet Avvaiyar, anti-colonial warrior queen Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar, Carnatic vocalist M.S. Subbulakshmi, and classical Bharatanatyam maestro Balasaraswati.
The tableau also prominently featured pioneering social justice reformers Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar, who fought against the Devadasi system, Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy, India's first female legislator and founder of the Adyar Cancer Institute, and centenarian organic farming pioneer Pappammal. Stalin observed that the visual representation celebrated women's courage, artistic excellence, and agricultural knowledge, demonstrating how Tamil women have spearheaded progressive revolutions across millennia.
The Chief Minister stated that presenting these towering figures on the national stage asserts the core philosophy of the Dravidian movement, which champions gender equality and celebrates subaltern heroes. He affirmed that the grand reception accorded to Tamil Nadu's tableau reflects nationwide recognition of the state's progressive social ethos and enduring cultural contributions to the Indian republic.
