Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially inaugurated a newly constructed Centre of Excellence building at the Government Peripheral and Rehabilitation Hospital in Kalaignar Karunanidhi Nagar, Chennai, specifically developed to benefit persons with disabilities. Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Stalin inspected the advanced physiotherapy wards, robotic rehabilitation units, and prosthetic fitment laboratories, interacting warmly with receiving patients to inquire about their treatment routines and clinical needs.

The Chief Minister stated that establishing advanced public rehabilitation centers reflects the state government's genuine compassion and institutional dedication to empowering citizens with physical challenges. The new state-of-the-art facility provides comprehensive rehabilitative services under one roof, including specialized occupational therapy, speech therapy, neurological rehabilitation, and modern assistive device manufacturing. Stalin observed that high-quality rehabilitative healthcare, which is often prohibitively expensive in private facilities, must remain entirely free and accessible to marginalized families.

Stalin reiterated that his administration prioritizes disability rights through dedicated welfare boards, increased monthly maintenance allowances, and barrier-free civic infrastructure across public buildings. He assured patients and medical staff that the government will continue upgrading government hospital infrastructure across Tamil Nadu to guarantee dignified, self-reliant lives for all persons with disabilities.
