Marking Martyrs' Day at the state secretariat in Chennai, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin administered the official Untouchability Eradication Pledge to cabinet ministers, senior civil servants, and government employees. The annual solemn pledge ceremony reasserts the constitutional mandate that untouchability is completely outlawed and reinforces the administrative obligation of every public servant to safeguard the equal civic dignity, civil liberties, and fundamental rights of all citizens without discrimination.
Leading the recitation, Stalin affirmed that the eradication of caste-based prejudice and untouchability represents the foundational ideological mission of the Dravidian Model governance. He instructed administrative officials and law enforcement personnel across all districts to enforce statutory protections under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act rigorously, ensuring that instances of social boycott, discriminatory practices in public spaces, or harassment are met with immediate legal prosecution.
The Chief Minister stressed that governmental oaths must be translated into proactive administrative behavior at every village panchayat and municipal ward. By expanding educational scholarships, promoting mixed residential colonies, and providing targeted entrepreneurship funding for Dalit communities, Tamil Nadu strives to eliminate structural inequalities and build a genuinely egalitarian, caste-free society rooted in brotherhood and self-respect.
