In a commemorative letter addressed to party cadres, DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid glowing tribute to Dravidian icon and former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai on his memorial anniversary. Stalin hailed Anna as the visionary leader who officially bestowed the historic name Tamil Nadu upon the motherland and served as an eternal sun guiding the Dravidian movement. He announced a silent peace march in Chennai on February 3 to commemorate Anna's enduring legacy.
Stalin recalled that Anna established regional political self-respect, defended linguistic autonomy against Hindi imposition, and articulated the foundational doctrine of state autonomy within a federal union. He emphasized that Anna's principled politics proved that regional democratic movements could attain governmental power to enact radical welfare legislation, protect minority communities, and establish social equality. In an era marked by increasing centralization, Anna's philosophical light remains vital to dispelling authoritarian darkness across India.
The Chief Minister called upon party members and citizens to participate solemnly in the peace rally and rededicate themselves to Anna's noble ideals of duty, dignity, and discipline. He reaffirmed that the DMK government will persistently defend Tamil culture, democratic rights, and state federalism against all centralized challenges.
